Three tiers, chosen on first launch and changeable any time. Every result is badged with the engine that made it, and a log records every outbound request, including the ones that failed.

Apple's built-in engines cover about twenty languages. Ekko adds a downloadable open model that runs entirely on your Mac, so Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and their neighbours work offline too. The picker shows which engine covers what, so nothing fails silently.

The local model

Czech, offline, with nothing to install.

One click downloads a compact open instruct model and runs it in-process. No terminal, no second app, no account. Styles work with it too, which a plain translation model cannot do. Pick the default or one of four alternatives, each with its licence shown before you download.

Whole documents, formatting intact

Drop a file on the Dock icon. Ekko translates the text, writes a new file next to it, and keeps every heading, bullet and slide where it was. It warns before starting if the document is too long for the engine you chose.

Long text without the seams

Paste an article or a report. Ekko splits it into pieces the engine can hold, carries names and terms across the pieces so they stay consistent, shows progress, and keeps what is finished if you stop early.

A global hotkey opens a small translate panel over any app. Rebind it in Settings.
